Specialize in Animal Law
Lewis & Clark law students may earn a Specialization in Animal Law within the Environmental Law Certificate Program by meeting the following requirements:
GENERAL ENVIRONMENTAL LAW CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
Students must take both Administrative Law and Environmental Law plus 8 additional credits of their choice from the environmental law curriculum.
Students must also write two substantial papers.
Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7
Only three ungraded credits may be applied towards certification.
REQUIRED COURSES
In addition to Environmental Law & Administrative Law, students must take:
Animal Law (fall) (3 credits) or Animal Law Litigation & Lobbying (summer) (2 credits).
ANIMAL LAW COURSE OPTIONS
4 of the 8 required credits must come from the course list below:
Animal Law Spring Seminar (2 credits)
Animal Rights Law (2 credits)
Endangered Species Act (2 credits)
Environmental/Animal Law Moot Court (if participate in the National Animal Advocacy Competitions) (2 credits)
Animal Law Review (up to 3 credits)
Animal Law Clinic (up to 3 credits)
Wildlife Law (3 credits)
Independent study (1-3 credits)
PAPER
One of the two required environmental papers must be written on an approved Animal Law topic.
