Training Kicks into High Gear
 The countdown is on, with only 8 weeks left until the big race day. Runners (hopefully) will begin to get real with theirtraining. Some of our team members will be using the Hood to Coast Relay, August 26th - 27th, as a fun way to get in a few extra miles. This summer, Professor and NEDC Board Member Melissa Powers ran a half marathon in Nimes, France. She also recently took first in her age group in the Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Foundation 10K on August 6th. Sarah Perelstein and Marla Nelson put their training to the test in the second half of the San Francisco Marathon on Sunday, July 31st.

6/1/2011 - Marathon Training Begins
 Members of team NEDC, regardless of where they spend the summer, have begun training.  Our very own Andrew Hawley is graciously providing additional training support by tailoring workout plans and offering tips.  If you’ve got some extra energy, some favorite routes in the PDX area include Leif Erikson Drive in Forest Park, the Terwilliger and the Waterfront, and downtown. 

Race for the Roses SUCCESS!!!
 A huge thanks to everyone who made team NEDC’s efforts at the Race for the Roses a success on Sunday.  Highlights of the event included many personal bests, due in no small part to a lucky day of sunny Portland weather.  Congratulations to all of our runners, and a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to NEDC on the runners’ behalf!  Check out the race results here.
