This privacy policy applies to the website operated by the Small Business Legal Clinic of Lewis & Clark College (“Clinic” or “We”), which can currently be found at the following URL (our “Website”):  https://law.lclark.edu/centers/small_business_legal_clinic/

Children Under the Age of 13

  • Web Beacons.  Pages of our Website may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) that permit the Clinic, for example, to count users who have visited those pages and for other related Website statistics (for example, recording the popularity of certain Website content and verifying system and server integrity).

The Clinic reserves the right to delete all information it collects or receives from or about you and that is governed by this privacy policy at any time and without notice to you. 

How We Use Your Information Inside the Clinic

We use information that We collect or receive about you, including any personal information:

  • To present our Website and its contents to you;
  • To provide you with information, including whether you are eligible to become one of our clients;
  • To invite you to Clinic events or to participate in Clinic activities;
  • In any other way We may describe when you provide the information; and
  • For any other purpose with your consent.

Disclosure of Your Information Outside the Clinic

We may disclose without restriction aggregated information about our Website users and Clinic clients that does not contain personal information.  We will disclose  aggregated information, such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, country of origin, income level, and location (by county) regarding Clinic clients and potential clients to donors, sponsors, and other funders of Clinic’s services to report the number and demographics of Clinic clients and potential clients.   

We may disclose personal information that We collect or receive as described in this privacy policy:

  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties, such as law students, legal interns, and attorneys We use to support our business and mission and who are bound by contractual and/or ethical obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which We disclose it to them;
  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information;
  • In other ways, with your consent;
  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Clinic, its employees, clients, or others; and
  • To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including responding to any government or regulatory request.

Your California Privacy Rights

We have implemented reasonable measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure.  We therefore cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to us through our Website, by a third-party service provider, by e-mail, or through information-request forms you fill out either directly on our Website or through a third-party service provider.  Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.  We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Website, any e-mail service provider, or on any third-party websites.  

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes We make to our privacy policy on this page.  If We make material changes to how We treat our users’ personal information, We will notify you through a notice on the Website home page.  The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page.  You are responsible for periodically visiting our Website and this privacy policy to check for any changes.
