Lewis & Clark alums talk about their environmental law careers
In general, three major areas of practice dominate the field: Non-profit Sector: representing national, regional, and local environmental organizations involved in litigation, lobbying, educational, or policy work.
Private Sector: working for a private law firm helping a variety of clients comply with environmental laws and regulations, or serving as in-house environmental counsel for a particular company.
Government Sector: advising local, state, and federal agencies on their special obligations under environmental laws. J.D. and LL.M. graduates in the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Program have enjoyed great success finding environmental positions in all of these three sectors. Additionally, many of our alumni have graduated from the three sectors into judicial or teaching positions. Our reputation as the country’s preeminent environmental law school and our network of more than 1,000 successful practitioners in the field provide our graduates with access to an international job market.
