Federal Indian Law Professional Background
Professor Frank Pommersheim, is from the University of South Dakota Law School. He is the author of a text, Braid of Feathers: American Indian Law and Contemporary Tribal Life, which is used as the primary reading for his class. Pommersheim is Chief Appellate Judge for the Rosebud Sioux. He has worked for and lived with Indians in South Dakota for thirty years. He teaches Indian law and criminal procedure at South Dakota. Professor Pommersheim received his law degree from Columbia University School of Law. He also holds an M.P.A. from Harvard University. Professor Pommersheim has served as chair of the Native American Rights section of the American Association of Law Schools.
