School of Law Intellectual Property Law Beyond the Classroom

Beyond the Classroom

The corporate community in the metropolitan Portland area includes international businesses such as Intel, Hewlett Packard, Nike, Adidas, Mentor Graphics, Tektronix, and Dark Horse Comics. Indeed, the technology concentration has earned the region a reputation as the "Silicon Forest." In keeping with our commitment to provide students with challenging practical experiences during their law school education, the Intellectual Property Law Program has established formal clinical internships with many of our neighbors. A number of our students have gone on to work with the intellectual property departments of these companies after graduation from the law school.

The student organization for intellectual property law, known as IPSO (Intellectual Property Student Organization), publishes the Oregon IP Newsletter. To read more about IPSO, go to http://www.lclark. edu/org/ipso/

In addition, the Paul L. Boley Law Library of Lewis & Clark College is an official Patent and Trademark Depository, and is the only law school library to hold such a designation. Further information about the 45,000+ volume collection and the search services available through its specially trained staff may be found at the Patent & Trademark information page of the library.
