Workers' Compensation*

Description:

Utilizing Oregon's Workers' Compensation Act and case law as examples, students will study compensability of claims, benefits, and the administration of compensation generally. The history and purpose of workers' compensation law, statutory construction, and the evolving nature of this area of law will be emphasized. The course will include guest speakers, including attorneys, state regulators or judicial officers. Grades are based on class participation, a short research paper, and drafting an "Opinion and Order" as the judge on a hypothetical case.
