Advanced Bankruptcy Seminar *
This seminar will explore Chapter 11 business reorganizations. Topics will include reasons for filing Chapter 11, typical issues that arise immediately upon filing, such as use of cash collateral, post-petition financing, and retention of professionals. It will also deal with creditors' committees, sales issues, appointment of Chapter 11 trustees, disclosure statements and plans of reorganization. Students will follow a Chapter 11 case from start to finish. Students will be graded on oral presentations and two papers which will satisfy the B writing requirement. The papers are limited to 15 pages each, using information contained in course materials and provided through class discussion, and will not involve independent research.
