Health Law: Basic Survey
Limit: 25 students.
This is the basic course on healthlaw, and begins with defining health and disease, follows with the roles and liabilities of physicians, nurses and other providers, then explores the mission and structure of hospitals. The role of healthcare insurance and Medicare/Medicaid in funding and limiting healthcare is explored, as are the varying proposals on the national and state levels for healthcare reform. We end with a visit to a hospice. Needless to say, in this presidential election year, this course is highly topical.
