Professional Background

Lorie Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Georgia where she was recognized as a Lilly Teaching Fellow. Lorie's principal area of expertise is corporate finance including corporate reorganizations and bankruptcy. In addition to her J.D. from Brigham Young University where she served on the Law Review, she has also completed her Ph.D. in Finance. Her present research focuses on bargaining in corporate debt restructurings, both in bankruptcy and out-of-court; and the role of legacy costs, such as union contracts and retiree health benefits, in explaining corporate financial distress and asset sales in bankruptcy.
