Professional Background

Wright began her legal career representing unions and employees in collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, and grievance hearings. She was in private general practice for approximately two years. She joined the law school as a member of the clinical faculty at the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic in 1990, after teaching in the Clinic at Willamette University School of Law for four years. In addition to directing the work of students,Wright is very active in the Oregon legal community planning, writing materials for, and speaking at continuing legal education seminars, drafting proposed legislation, acting as a pro bono attorney for children and for survivors of domestic violence, and serving on numerous committees. She is the 2003 Chair of the Litigation Section of the Oregon State Bar (OSB), Chair of the OSB's Unlawful Practice of Law Committee, and serves on the Multnomah Bar Association's (MBA) Judicial Screening Committee. In the past, she has served on the OSB Affirmative Action, Public Service and Information, Lawyer Referral, Access to Justice, and Pro Bono Committees. She has also served on the MBA Professionalism, Equality in the Profession, and CLE Committees.

Professor Wright spent two months working with law school legal clinics in Croatia during the spring semester, 2002 with the American Bar Association Central and Eastern European Law Initiative (ABA/CEELI). Professor Wright is a recipient of the Oregon State Bar President's Membership Service Award for outstanding volunteer services to the profession, the Multnomah Bar Association's Pro Bono Volunteer of the Year award, the Oregon State Bar New Lawyers Division Pro Bono Challenge Award, and award of appreciation from the National Lawyers Guild.
