Migratory Bird Treaty Act Conference
The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 implements a landmark treaty between the United States and Great Britain to protect birds migrating between the U.S. and Canada. One of the oldest wildlife conservation statutes in the world, the MBTA now protects over 800 species of birds in the United States. But threats to migratory birds today challenge the effectiveness of this venerable statute. The time is right to re-examine whether, nearly a century after its enactment, the MBTA is up to the task of protecting birds against threats of the 21st century.(Until October 22nd 2011)
