Professional Background
Before joining the Lewis & Clark faculty, Scott was Senior Corporate Counsel with Automatic Data Processing, Inc (ADP) from 2001-2007, where he structured and negotiated long term business process outsourcing contracts with ADP’s largest clients. He also provided compliance advice on data privacy and security laws (including HIPAA, FCRA and the E.U. Data Privacy Directive), and other federal laws affecting the delivery of payroll and other employment-related outsourcing services. Prior to joining ADP, Scott was in private practice, first with Alston & Bird (Atlanta, Georgia), where he focused on mergers & acquisitions, securities offerings and franchising, and then with Bodker, Ramsey & Andrews(Atlanta, Georgia), where he represented clients in a wide variety of corporate and transactional matters, including venture capital transactions, technology licensing and commercial real estate. While in law school, he was an Articles Editor of the Florida Law Review and a Teaching Fellow with the Law School’s Research and Writing program. Scott’s teaching interests include helping law students understand how to apply their newly acquired legal knowledge to identify and solve client problems in a variety of practical contexts, including business formation and operation, regulatory compliance, and representation of client interests in negotiated business transactions.
