Sid Lezak was a lawyer, activist, mediator, mentor and inspiration to all who knew him. The Lezak Legacy Fellows Program reflects his legacy:  his life, career, humanity and commitment to social justice, public service and the community he loved.  Please join us in keeping Sid’s legacy alive by attending a wine and cheese reception to celebrate the Lezak Legacy Fellows program.

The Lezak Legacy Fellows Program was established by friends and family of Sid to fund summer fellowships for Lewis & Clark Law School students who have an established commitment to social justice. Lezak Legacy Fellows work in public interest law settings and grapple with issues such as environmental justice, wage theft, poverty law, Native American rights, prisoners’ rights and community dispute resolution - just to name a few.  The fellowships provide students valuable experience while enabling public interest organizations to support summer law clerk positions that the organizations would not otherwise be able to fund.

This event provides a great opportunity to support and promote a program that would make Sid proud.

Please RSVP to by Friday, September 20.

Directions and parking information will be emailed to guests after they RSVP.

“The summer stipend that accompanied my Lezak Fellowship was essential in enabling me to take an unpaid position for the summer.  For me, the most valuable part of the Lezak Legacy Project was the mentors I was assigned and the community that I became part of.  My mentors, Judge Susan Graber and Norm Sepenuk welcomed me into their friendship, advised me, and entertained me during our get-togethers. I have also gotten to know a larger community of other Fellows, their mentors, the Lezak family, and supporters of the Program.  During our monthly potlucks I came to understand and appreciate the intimacy and collegiality of the Portland legal community.”
Jordan Schoonover, 2013 Lezak Legacy Fellow

“The Lezak Legacy Project not only provided financial assistance to help me achieve my goals this summer, but also offered an invaluable mentorship program.  For me, the most beneficial part of this program is the mentorship.  Because I had very little connection to the legal community in Portland, receiving this opportunity has been an incredible experience and one of the best in law school.  Being surrounded by so many intelligent, caring, and respected people, who want to help all of us succeed, has been a blessing.”
Kristin Welsh, 2013 Lezak Legacy Fellow
