We are excited to welcome Dr. Sairam Bhat, a Professor of law from the top Indian national law school and our exchange partner: National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
In his lecture entitled “26 Years After the Bhopal Disaster: What Remains To Be Done,” Dr. Bhat brought insight to a full house of faculty and students on the current state of the worst industrial environmental disaster the world has ever seen.
Dr. Bhat has earned multiple degrees in law and has his Ph.D. from the University of Mysore. He has done work for the Centre for Environmental Law, Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA), and was awarded the “Young India Environmental Law Fellowship” in 2003. Dr. Bhat has worked internationally, visiting as an adjunct faculty member at Golden Gate University, and presenting papers at the National University of Singapore and at the International Water Law Conference in Berlin, Germany. He teaches Environmental Law, Contracts, and Intellectual Property Rights Law at NLSIU. He has written books on both business and environmental topics. He is currently at Georgetown University Law Center on a Fulbright.
