The Lewis & Clark Law School ACLU student group presents guest speaker Bruce Friedman, Director of Programs and Senior Policy Advisor for Immigration, in the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Friedman will discuss the highly controversial E-Verify program–an internet-based system for employers to check the eligibility of prospective employees to work in the United States. Touted by some as an efficient way to deter illegal immigration and preserve American jobs and derided by others as an invitation to discriminate and misuse. Come hear a DHS expert on immigration and civil rights give his inside perspective.
