Faculty Appointments Committee Representative

My name is C.J. Graves and I am from Salem, Oregon.  I studied English Lit. and Psychology at the University of Portland.  I enjoy coffee roasting, running, reading everything I can get my hands on, exploring new restaurants, and drinking obscene amounts of coffee.  Not people know that it is David Schor’s fault that I’m on SBA (blame him).  My motto for law school has been, “Live within yourself” (unfortunately I suck at following it).  I’m on the Faculty Appointments Committee, and I hope to have some influence in bringing excellent teachers to our school. While I absolutely care about the academic reputation of the professors, my fundamental concerns are whether they can educate the students to be skilled attorneys.  Because of this, my primary concern is whether the applicants have experience practicing and experience teaching.  I’m also going to try to involve the students as much as possible in the selection process.  We are hiring several new professors this year, and I’ll keep everyone posted about when applicants will be on campus for interviews.  I’d welcome everyone’s thoughts and feedback, so please feel free to stop by and talk with me.  I’ll even freely dispense bad law school advice with plenty of disclaimers.
