Hi! I’m Kya Marienfeld, and I’m from the beautiful northwoods of Minnesota, where I lived on a river with my family, dog, and five very needy chickens. I went to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where I studied History and Environmental Geoscience and spent the last four years guiding canoe, kayak, and hiking trips in wilderness locations all over the United States. A motto I try to remember as I’m going about life is John Muir’s reminder that if we “tug on anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.” A lot of people might not know that I am the world’s biggest fan of the NPR show “A Prairie Home Companion,” and that I once won first prize when I sang a duet in front of 2,000 people with Garrison Keillor, the “man from Lake Wobegon” himself. My goals as SBA pod rep this year are to help foster a supportive and fun environment within the yellow (GOLD!) pod and ensure that everyone has a challenging but also fulfilling first year of law school!
