My name is Sean Van Demark and I’m from Occoquan, Virginia.  I attended Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA, for my Undergraduate receiving a BA in Political Science with a double minor in Leadership Studies and Philosophy.  For five years before coming to law school I worked as an Environmental Compliance Specialist doing construction site monitoring with regard to Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control.  I am currently working at the Portland Rock Gym as a Routesetter in both routes and bouldering.  In my spare time, I like to rock climb, run with my dogs, cook, and spend time with my partner.  Most people don’t know that when I have an available studio I like to create stained glass pieces and that I practice Tai Chi as a method of relaxation.  The motto I live by is, “Om Mani Padme Hum,” a Buddhist mantra invoking the universal essence of compassion, which can be found in a large tattoo taking up the inside of my right forearm.  My goal is to create volunteer opportunities and get together’s for the evening division by working with SBA to keep evening school hours in mind when setting up future programs.
