Lewis & Clark Law Dean Appointed to National Committee on Civil Procedure

Dean Bob Klonoff has been appointed by U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice to a national committee on the rules of civil procedure

United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts appointed Lewis & Clark Law School dean Robert Klonoff to be the academic member of the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules.  This small committee of about 15 members, one of whom must be a professor of law, promulgates the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.  The appointment occurs after a complete vetting of a select group of nominees who are experts in the field of Civil Procedure. The final decision rests with the Chief Justice.

Dean Klonoff, a leading scholar in the area of class actions and  Associate Reporter of the ALI’s Aggregate Litigation Project, brings a breadth and depth of knowledge to the position.
The appointment of Dean Klonoff fits in the long Lewis & Clark tradition of a school that emphasizes practical skills.
