1971

Yvonne Edwards CAS came to Lewis & Clark from Honolulu’s Punahou School in 1967. “I thought Portland was on the Oregon coast!” She dropped out in 1969 and lived for over a decade in a commune, where she helped raise five children. She later earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. “At age 41, I married a philosopher-athlete.” She lives in Astoria, Oregon, and gives psychotherapy workshops there as well as in San Francisco and Naselle, Washington.

1972

Arts & Sciences June 21-24, 2012

Ron Gaither BS worked as a Medicare contractor for 38 years and semiretired this year. He enjoys spending time with his wife of 35 years and their three children and five grandchildren. He has assisted with Lewis & Clark track meets in recent years and looks forward to seeing the class of 1972 during this summer’s reunion.

Linda King BA referees recreational adult volleyball for the Portland Volleyball Association. She has worked for Jackson Hewitt Tax Services for 10 years. She participates in water aerobics and enjoys spending time with her son, Daniel. She saw the Pioneer women’s volleyball team win two matches at home in fall 2011.

Ralph Munson BA retired in September 2010 after more than 30 years in health care management. His children, Cara and Trevor, graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He and his wife, Cathy, attended a dinner marking the retirement of head track and field coach

David Fix BS ’70 last fall. Munson looks forward to his upcoming reunion.

Stephen Crossland JD is the 2011–12 president of the Washington State Bar Association.

John Gremp BA, chairman, CEO, and president of FMC Technologies, is a member of Joy Global’s board of directors.

1974

Chris Helmer JD, a recruiting partner with Miller Nash, is chair of the board of trustees for the Oregon College of Art and Craft.

1975

John Scott Cramer BS received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Susan Davis for legal service to the San Diego community. He received the Casa Cornelia Law Center’s La Mancha Award for pro bono immigration appellate work.

Gary Grenley JD joined the Portland office of Garvey Shubert Barer as an owner after 35 years in private practice. He is on the board of directors for the Court- Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children program.

James Kershner BA is a member of the Spokane [Washington] Public Library’s board of trustees. After 22 years as a columnist, feature writer, and theatre critic for the Spokesman-Review, he accepted an early retirement offer in summer 2011.

Richard Rogers JD, a partner in the Portland firm of Rogers & Block, was honored with the Dan Cullan Memorial Award from the Birth Trauma Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice.

1976

Samuel Anderson JD was appointed to the Regence BlueShield community board to help guide the company’s strategic direction. Anderson is CEO of Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties in Washington. Jack Hoffman JD is part of the environmental law team for Dunn Carney Allen Higgins & Tongue. He is a litigator with expertise in cost recovery.

1977

Richard Hartung BS started the Cycle Oregon branch of the Candlelighters for Children with Cancer organization in 2002. That same year, he raised $10,000 in memory of his daughter, Jill, who died of cancer in 1997. Last fall, 60 Candlelighters participated in Cycle Oregon and raised $120,000.

Katherine O’Neil JD will chair the American Bar Association’s Mental and Physical Disability Law Commission for a second term.

1978

Judge Thomas Gerken JD joined Crabbe, Brown & James in its Lancaster, Ohio, office.

1979

John Meynink JD is vice president of the Coos County Bar Association for 2011–12.

Michael Wellman BS is managing director of Disney Stores China. He is responsible for the development, communication, and operations of the strategic vision and direction for China’s Disney Stores.
