Protecting the Willamette River

PEAC certified law student Jessica Johnson argued before the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals on behalf of PEAC clients.

On December 2nd, PEAC certified law student Jessica Johnson argued before the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals on behalf of PEAC clients the Audubon Society of Portland and Willamette Riverkeeper. This case involves three consolidated appeals by Portland businesses who object to the North River Plan adopted by the City of Portland earlier this year. PEAC intervened in the appeal on behalf of its clients to help the City defend that plan. As Jessica argued, and explained in the brief that PEAC submitted a few weeks before that argument, the North River Plan appropriately balances the needs of the businesses in the North River area and the need to protect and restore this stretch of the Willamette River.
