NCVLI recognized for innovation in addressing violence against women

NCVLI’s Responding to Violence Against Women Project has been selected to receive the 2013 Mary Byron Foundation Celebrating Solutions Award. This important award honors nonprofit and governmental organizations with innovative programs that demonstrate promise in ending the generational cycle of domestic violence.

The Responding to Violence Against Women Project was selected for its pioneering efforts and ability to serve as a model for the nation. Recognizing that historical and cultural myths and biases create unique hurdles to women’s access to justice, the project works to ensure that service providers responding to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and other crimes have the knowledge and skills necessary to protect a victim’s rights, particularly in the criminal case against an offender. They also work to ensure that victims of these crimes are re‐empowered rather than victimized when they access the justice system.
