Juan Carlos Gonzalez CAS is the foreign investment vice president at Proexport, Colombia, a national agency for the promotion of foreign direct investment (FDI), nontraditional exports, and international tourism. Gonzalez has been in charge of designing and implementing Colombia’s foreign investment strategy as the country has become one of the top recipients of FDI in Latin America.

Sean Hanley BA launched an ambitious Kickstarter campaign for a feature film called Scamdance!

Derek Larson BA was recently promoted to professor of history and environmental studies at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, where he has taught since 1998. He holds a joint appointment in history and environmental studies and has served as chair of the environmental studies department since 2001. He and his spouse, Theresa Anderson BS ’91, live with their two daughters near campus in bucolic St. Joseph, blocks off the Lake Wobegon Trail in central Minnesota.

Jerald Richards BA was named vice president and CFO for Potlatch Corporation, a real estate investment trust, in September 2013.

Ruthe Farmer BA, director of strategic initiatives at the National Center for Women and IT, was named a White House Champion of Change for Tech Inclusion. In July 2013, she was honored at the White House for her work to increase girls’ participation in technology fields.

Arts & Sciences Reunion June 19−22, 2014

Marie Kelleher BA was awarded the American Historical Association’s 2012 Premio del Rey (best book in early Spanish history) for her book The Measure of Woman: Law and Female Identity in the Crown of Aragon (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2010).

Leila Wilson BA published a book of poetry, The Hundred Grasses (Milkweed Editions, 2013).

1995

Ying Chen JD was named the 2013 Distinguished Business Law Graduate by Lewis & Clark Law School. Chen is a patent attorney and cofounder of Chen Yoshimura in Los Angeles.

Joe Mitchoff BS founded Viridian Reclaimed Wood in 2005. During a recent renovation of Lewis & Clark’s Griswold Stadium, Mitchoff intercepted the bleacher wood, which was then reused in the set of Portland Center Stage’s Fiddler on the Roof in fall 2013. “The peeling gray paint that made the bleachers in need of replacement ended up being the perfect rustic look the set designers wanted for their stage,” says Mitchoff.

David Voluck JD published the third edition of Alaska Natives and American Laws (University of Alaska Press, 2012), a treatise coauthored with David Case. Voluck sits as chief judge to the Sitka Tribe of Alaska, magistrate/ judge to the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska, and judge pro tem for the Aleut Community of St. Paul Island Tribal Government. He is also an adjunct instructor in Lewis & Clark Law School’s summer Indian Law Program.

David Aman JD was named in the 2013 edition of Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Aman is a shareholder with Tonkon Torp in Portland and maintains a business litigation and intellectual property practice.

Adina Flynn JD was named a 2012 Five-Star Wealth Manager in Portland Monthly. Flynn is a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services and president of Lewis & Clark Law School’s Alumni Board of Directors.

Benjamin Lenhart JD was named in the 2013 edition of Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. He is a shareholder with Lane Powell in Portland.

1997

Darren Drabek BA completed his sixth marathon (in a sixth unique state) with a personal best of 3:30 at the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington. Drabek has also finished his sixth year as an international student advisor at Skidmore College, where he enjoys working closely with the school’s Davis United World College Scholars.

kollodi BA, a collaborator on scenic design, was one of six Lewis & Clark alumni who were part of the Liminal Performance Group’s production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town last fall in Portland.

Jason Mokrovich BA works for the Glasgow City Council in Glasgow, Scotland. He is part of the Service Modernization Unit’s leadership team.

Naomi Pomeroy BA teamed up with her husband, acclaimed Portland bartender Kyle Webster, to open Expatriate. The new bar is across the street from Pomeroy’s award-winning restaurant, Beast. The menu is inspired by recent visits to Thailand and Myanmar.

June Wiyrick Flores JD was voted secretary for the Portland Estate Planning Council Board.

1998

Christopher Neumann JD is the recipient of the International Erosion Control Association Environmental Connection 2013 Presenter of the Year Award for his course titled Stormwater Enforcement and Risk Mitigation Trends. Neumann is a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig in Denver and counsels clients in the retail, natural gas, petroleum, construction, home building, solid and hazardous waste, and mining industries. 1999

Joshua Husbands JD was named by the Portland Business Journal as one of its 40 Under 40 Executives for 2013. Husbands is a partner with Holland & Knight in Portland, where he is a member of the private wealth services section and represents clients in an array of business, tax, business succession, and estate planning matters, including business reorganizations, acquisitions, and divestitures.

Laura Maffei JD was elected 2013 chair of the Environmental and Natural Resources Section of the Oregon State Bar. Maffei, a shareholder with Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, focuses her practice on environmental and natural resource law.

Ken Westin BA appeared on KGW’s Straight Talk, which aired on June 23, 2013, along with Tung Yin, professor of law at Lewis & Clark. Westin and Yin discussed the National Security Agency’s spying activities and other issues around digital privacy.
