Visiting International Scholar
July 30, 2014
Lewis & Clark Law School is pleased to announce that it will host Dr. Taewoo Yook as a Visiting International Scholar for the 2014-15 academic year.
Dr. Yook has been a Professor of Law at Kangwon National University School of Law in Chuncheon, South Korea for over seven years, where he teaches - Corporate Law, Corporate Finance, Securities Regulation, Commercial Transactions, and Negotiable Instrument. Professor Yook also serves as the Associate Director of the Institute for Comparative Legal Studies. As Associate Director, he oversees the clinic’s research and social development in connection with the law.
During Professor Yook’s residence at Lewis & Clark Law School, he will be conducting research on the voting process for general shareholders in public corporations in the United States. Professor Yook’s research is vital and important to South Korean public corporations because in January 2015 the current method of “shadow voting” will no longer be an option. Professor Yook will combine his research from the Boley Law Library, conversations with our business law professors and local Portland business law firms to find a new solution for future South Korean public corporation voting.
Lewis & Clark has an ongoing relationship with Kangwon National University; Professor Yook’s alma mater. Professor Yook’s research at Lewis & Clark is sponsored by Kangwon National University, which has also hosted several Lewis & Clark professors including: Melissa Powers, Daniel Rohlf and Aubrey Baldwin.
