Victims of crime should not have to sacrifice their privacy in order to seek justice. Recognizing this, a domestic violence victim’s attorney in California opposed a subpoena for his client’s counseling records. Despite his efforts and clear law on privacy, the trial court was going to review and turn over records. He reached out to NCVLI and we worked together to craft arguments to compel the trial court to reconsider. NCVLI is committed to protecting the privacy of all victims to ensure that they are not re-victimized by the very system to which they turn for help.
