Energy projects in res halls

Facilities Services

Over the break, Facilities Services in collaboration with the Energy Trust of Oregon, installed several energy and water saving devices in the residence halls. The devices and technologies include:

  • LED light bulbs: placed in desk lamps to conserve nearly 75% in energy costs as compared to incandescents and last more than 50 times as long
  • Energy and water-efficient showerheads and faucet aerators: these fixtures are 20% more efficient compared to standard fixtures
  • Advanced power strips: reduce energy waste by not providing power to secondary devices when the primary device is turned off and reducing ‘vampire loads’
