2010 Receptions for First Year Law Students

Monday and Wednesday afternoons throughout February.

Each year, private firms, government employers and non-profit law offices hold receptions for Lewis & Clark first year law students.  These receptions provide you with a unique opportunity to visit different law offices, meet practicing attorneys (many of whom are alums of the law school) and learn about different areas of the law and different types of practice settings. Most receptions are 1-1 ½ hours and include a tour of the office and an opportunity to talk informally with attorneys after a brief presentation.  Many of these employers (especially the larger firms) offer this as an opportunity to find out about their office and their practice areas – information that can be very helpful if you decide to apply to them as a 2L student.  

You may attend as many of the receptions as you wish; however, there will be multiple receptions on each date and you may only attend one reception on each date.  We recommend that you sign up for several receptions, and that you sign up for a variety of employer types/sizes so that you can compare and contrast.  

TO SIGN UP: Register for the “Receptions for First Year Students” course through the Westlaw TWEN website, beginning  January 11.  Once you are registered, review the list of participating employers and sign up for the receptions that you want to attend.  Sign up for each reception is on a first come/first served basis.
