Carrying the Effort Beyond April To Raise Awareness About Sexual Assault

Click here to read about our Conference sessions dedicated sexual and domestic violence.

Raising awareness of the prevalence and impact of sexual and domestic violence, and identifying best practices in representation is necessary every day of the year. Our Crime Victim Law Conference has sessions dedicated to this effort.

Survivors Under Attack: Identifying and Responding to Abusive Litigation Tactics - Riddhi Mukhopadhyay, JD & David Ward, JD
When seeking justice, survivors often face a new abuse - the misuse and manipulation of  legal proceedings as the offender attempts to maintain power and control over survivors. This session will discuss effective intervention on the victim’s behalf, explain the forms that abusive litigation can take, and describe actions that can curb such abusive litigation.

Centering the Margins: An Intersectional Approach to Addressing Campus Sexual Assault - Chardonnay Madkins, BA
This session will challenge the way in which we address campus sexual assault by showing the harmful results when advocacy agencies do not offer culturally competent resources and support to marginalized survivors. The session will discuss barriers to reporting and accessing services and articulate promising practices for supporting marginalized survivors.
