Kathy has been a prosecutor since 1989. She has specialized in family violence, child abuse, and sexual assault cases and tried over 100 jury trials. She currently supervises deputy district attorneys who vertically prosecuted cases involving sexual assault of adults, physical and sexual assaults of children, elder abuse, family violence, stalking cases and hate crimes in the Pasadena Branch Office. She was previously the Special Assistant to the Director for the Bureau of Victim Services (BVS) which is part of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. BVS offers services to victims of violent crime, such as outreach, emergency assistance, court accompaniment, and assistance filling out Victim Compensation applications for reimbursement for crime related losses. Ms. Cady has given training seminars to law enforcement, deputy district attorneys and victim advocates on Victims’ Rights. She currently also serves on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Advocacy Center for Child Abuse Assessment and Treatment, a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center that services child victims in the east end of Los Angeles County, the Advisory Board for the Children’s Advocacy Centers of California, the state accredited chapter of National Children’s Alliance, Picture Alternatives, a nonprofit venture that uses creative media to promote the social value and effectiveness of alternatives to violence, and is an honorary advisory board member of Justice for Homicide Victims. She is also on the California Children’s Justice Act Task Force. She previously served on the board of Project Sister Family Services, a rape crisis center. Ms. Cady has been instrumental in policy changes in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office as well as drafted legislation and testified in Sacramento regarding bills relating to victims’ rights and services. She is married and has three children and one grandchild. Ms. Cady joined the Board in 2017.
