Starting at the Beginning: Law Enforcement Training

Click here to learn about a recent training for the New York City Policy Department, Special Victims Unit.

NCVLI is part of a team of experts brought together by the You Have Options Program to train law enforcement to better understand the trauma victims endure; trauma from the victimization and the experience of criminal justice. You Have Options, originally conceptualized by NCVLI Advisory Council member and Ashland Police Department Detective Carrie Hull, allows survivors of sexual violence to report their victimization anonymously and with confidentiality to law enforcement, and works to ensure investigative techniques are trauma-informed.  Last month’s training is part of a series for the New York City Police Department, Special Victims Unit, designed to enhance law enforcement-victim interactions in order to ensure better outcomes for victims and the system.
