Recently, a 20-year-old Wisconsin restitution order was vacated due to a procedural defect in the order. Defendant filed a motion seeking refund of all payments made to the victim over the years. A team, including a Wisconsin nonprofit, a pro bono attorney and NCVLI, joined together to protect the victim’s right to restitution. No one can do this work alone. It takes all of us to protect and advance victims’ rights.
