The Global Youth Diversity Network recognizes Lewis & Clark Law School graduate, Ever Vimbai Chinoda (’17 Animal Law LLM) for her work on behalf of animals using the legal system.

Ms. Chinoda graduated in 2017 after receiving one of only three of the Center for Animal Law Studies prestigious International Advocates Animal Law LLM Scholarships. During her time in the program, Ms. Chinoda founded a Zimbabwean nonprofit, Speak Out For Animals, focused on educating attorneys, law students, and rural communities on animal law and animal protection. In the past year, she has organized the first animal law training for lawyers in Zimbabwe, met with members of parliament to discuss animal law issues, helped start two Speak Out For Animals student chapters at the University of Zimbabwe and Great Zimbabwe law schools, as well as organized an awareness building walkathon on World Wildlife Day in Harare.

Coming up in May, Ms. Chinoda will hold the second animal law training for attorneys in Zimbabwe, as well as present at the III Global Animal Law Conference at the University of Hong Kong.
