Fighting for a victim’s right to speedy disposition

Read about our involvement in a Tennessee drunk driving case.

NCVLI was contacted by a family in Tennessee who lost their son as to a drunk driver while he was walking across the street in front of his workplace.  The accused was immediately arrested, but the judge in the case (on his own initiative) has pushed the trial off several times, citing a variety of reasons.  It has now been two and a half years and the family came to us for assistance and education on their rights.  NCVLI conducted legal research on Tennessee victims’ rights to speedy disposition and provided the memorandum to the prosecuting attorney in the case and the victims.
