Intellectual Property Student Organization (IPSO)

Executive Board Members:

  • Treasurer: Timothy Lawson

About Us: IPSO is a group dedicated to all aspects of intellectual property, including the big three of Patent, Trademark and Copyright.  This dynamic subject matter is relevant to many different interests and crosses many boundaries, so there’s no shortage of new and interesting topics for discussion.  IPSO is the place for engaging in that discussion, whether one’s interest is in protecting artistic expression, technical innovation, or your image.   IPSO hosts several events and speakers each year, including a chilli cook-off each fall and a wine tasting each spring.  IPSO is also frequently co-sponsors events with other on-campus groups.

Mission: The Intellectual Property Student Organization (IPSO) was founded in 1997 as a forum for discussing intellectual property law and to meet and interact with those working in the fields of Intellectual Property Law.  It is the mission of IPSO to make relevant to students the topics of intellectual property law, and to make available a forum for those with a strong interest to both participate in the discussion and network with practitioners.  IPSO’s goals are expressed in it’s agenda: to offer events which expose students to intellectual property topics, which integrate intellectual property law with other substantive areas of law, and which introduce students to faculty and practitioners of IP law.  In addition to sponsoring two or more talks each semester, and hosting one or more networking events, IPSO hosts an annual Chilli Cook-off.
