About Us: Environmental Law is the nation’s oldest law review dealing solely with environmental issues, and Lewis and Clark Law School’s first law review, founded in 1969. We are consistently ranked in the top tier of environmental law journals, sharing company with similar journals from Harvard and Berkeley. Environmental Law is a student-run journal—we select the manuscripts, sourcecheck and edit them, and make all arrangements for their publication with our printer. Membership on Environmental Law is highly competitive and based on either first-year grades or on a yearly writing competition in the summer.

Mission: The purpose of Environmental Law is to provide information on environmental issues that are important to the legal profession nationwide. Environmental Law seeks to publish articles, essays, notes, book reviews, and comments that will be valuable to practitioners in corporate, government, or private practice; legislators; policy makers; students; educators; and the judiciary. Thus, any paper concerning the environment has a place in Environmental Law if it helps a lawyer represent a client or guides a policymaker in deciding the proper course for environmental legal issues and regulations. Environmental Law publishes four times annually, in Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. The Summer issue includes the annual Ninth Circuit Review.
