Bio
My name is Jackson Thein and I am a senior member of the Pamplin Society of Fellows. I was born in the small town of Burns, Oregon to East Coast parents and I have lived in Eastern Oregon for my entire life. I have one older brother who has played a critical role in shaping me to the person I am today while serving as my competitor my friend for life. In 2016 I studied abroad in Cuenca, Ecuador where I learned about the interesting political and cultural atmosphere of the tourism-based country while also working on my Spanish language skills. During this summer of 2017 I conducted research with professor Greg Hermann to study cell biology in the C. elegans nematode worms. After graduation I hope to pursue a career in the healthcare field, specifically within the realm of global health. While not buried in books or serving on committees I like to ski, learn French, play volleyball, golf, swim, travel, and enjoy the outdoors of Oregon.
