Externship Program -- Employer Information
Application Deadlines
Spring 2010 Externships: 4pm, October 30, 2010
Summer 2010 Externships: 4 pm, May 21, 201 (but accepted and approved on a rolling basis)
Fall 2010 Externships: 4pm, February 26, 2010
An Externship is an opportunity for students to earn a full semester's or summer's worth of academic credit by working full time (without pay) under the guidance of a practicing attorney at a carefully selected placement with a federal or state appellate court judge, public interest or non-profit agency, government agency, or corporate in-house counsel.
The full semester Externship requires a minimum 14 weeks of experience (40 hours/week), participation in a classroom component (6 hours prior to the placement, 20 hours during the placement, and 2 hours following return from placement), writing a substantial paper and keeping a journal.
The summer Externship must be at least 8 weeks long (40 hours/week).
