About the National Center for Animal Law
The National Center for Animal Law was established in 2001 in order to provide support for students pursuing careers in animal law. While laws relating to animals have been in existence for centuries, the growth of a separate field of law and practice area only began in the 1970s. Today, many students enter law school hoping to combine their interest in animal advocacy with a fulfilling and meaningful career and hope to use their legal skills to advance legal protections for animals.
The National Center for Animal Law provides trainings, resources, programs, and networking opportunities for animal law students. While housed at Lewis & Clark Law School with a primary goal of building a model program in animal law, the Center supports all animal law students, administrators, and professors. Staff
