17th Annual Business Law Fall Forum
Date: October 12 2012 8:30am - 5:30pm Location: Erskine B. Wood Hall - Erskine B. Wood Hall
This forum will evaluate international investment law (IIL) through a lens of sustainable development. Leading scholars will consider legal mechanisms available for addressing a tension inherent in foreign investment: its potential to promote economic development and raise standards of living, on the one hand, and its potential adverse impacts on the environment and local populations, on the other. Participants in the forum will evaluate options within IIL for balancing these competing interests and goals, as well as potential solutions external to IIL, including standards of corporate social responsibility and contractual devices.
