Margaret Kirkpatrick

Margaret_Kirkpatrick_web_bw Margaret Kirkpatrick '82 is Vice President and General Counsel for Northwest Natural Gas. She was formerly apartner at Stoel Rives in Portland, practicing in land use, natural resources and environmental law, with an emphasis on local government and agency permitting. Upon graduation she clerked with Judge W. Michael Gillette of the Oregon Court of Appeals; she received her LLM from the University of Edinburgh in 1987. A dedicated civic volunteer, Margaret has provided leadership in maintaining Portland's livability through her work as a Commissioner on the Portland Planning Commission, a board member of the 1000 Friends of Oregon Cooperating Attorney Program, and a volunteer with numerous task forces and advisory committees on planning, health, and education funding. She has also served as an adjunct professor at the Law School.
