Business of IP: Jeff Hegedus, Skydance Television

Our first speaker for this year’s Business of IP series is Jeff Hegedus, Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for Skydance Television (https://skydance.com). He will speak about the day-to-day work of an entertainment lawyer and how he began and developed his career over the years. A lawyer with over 20 years experience in entertainment and intellectual-property law, Jeff previously worked at Sony Pictures Television, Paramount Television, Hulu, ABC Studios, and O’Melveny & Myers. Jeff earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Irvine and his law degree from the University of Southern California.

23rd Annual Business Law Fall Forum “The Procedure of IP”

This forum will explore the various ways in which the laws of Civil Procedure and Intellectual Property intersect.  Among other things, speakers will cover preclusion in the context of administrative proceedings, the territorial scope of IP claims and remedies generally, equitable estoppel within copyright cases, jury instructions in copyright cases, and the standards for infringement and burdens of proof in copyright cases.
