Executive Board Responsibilities

President

Elegibility: A nominee for this position must have served on the SABER Executive Board for at least one year.

The President:

  1. Acts as the administrative head, representative, and primary contact for the organization.
  2. Sets the agenda and schedule for board meetings and oversees each meeting.
  3. Administers SABER elections.
  4. Attends alumni and law school events throughout the year to raise SABER’s profile in the Lewis & Clark and legal communities.
  5. Acts as the primary liaison between SABER and the Dean, other student organizations, the SBA, the Career Services Office, the Office of Alumni Relations, the Development Department, and essential staff and faculty members.
  6. Assists Officers of the Executive Board in their interactions with groups and individuals within Lewis & Clark community to maintain SABER’s reputation and relationships on campus.
  7. Maintains the SABER e-mail account, checking e-mail regularly.
  8. Supervises updates and additions to the SABER webpage.
  9. Supports all other Executive Board Officers in their duties.

Vice President

Eligibility: Any current student who is enrolled for the 2018-19 academic year is eligible to apply.

The Vice President:

  1. Works with the President in a supportive capacity, taking over Presidential duties if the President is unable to fulfill the duties.
  2. Responsible for representing SABER at the fall and spring student and prospective student organization fairs.
  3. Coordinates at least one social networking event in either the fall or spring semester.
  4. Coordinates with officers to plan projects and events throughout the academic year.
  5. Supports all other Executive Board Officers in their duties.

Treasurer

Eligibility: Any current student who is enrolled for the 2018-19 academic year is eligible to apply.

The Treasurer:

  1. Prepares and presents SABER’s budget proposal(s) to SBA, and communicates the approved budget(s) to the Executive Board.
  2. Attends all treasurer meetings and trainings, as required by SBA.
  3. Maintains a current and accurate record of SBA SABER funds.
  4. Approves and signs off on the use of SBA SABER funds for individual purchases, and periodically checks the Treasurers records against the budget office records.
  5. Periodically reports the amount of existing SBA SABER funds to the Executive Board.
  6. Supports all other Executive Board Officers in their duties.

Secretary

Eligibility: Any current student who is enrolled for the 2018-19 academic year is eligible to apply.

The Secretary:

  1. Maintains and updates the SABER webpage.
  2. Attends all Executive Board meetings and takes the minutes for each meeting, making the minutes available to the Executive Board in a timely manner after each meeting. If the Secretary is unable to attend a meeting, the Officer must appoint another Executive Board Officer to keep the minutes for that meeting. If the Officer is unable to attend more than three consecutive meetings, the Officer will appoint another Executive Board Officer to fulfill the role of taking the minutes for the remainder of the semester.
  3. Supports all other Executive Board Officers in their duties.

Projects & Events Coordinator

Eligibility: Any current student who is enrolled for the 2018-19 academic year is eligible to apply.

The Projects & Events Coordinator:

  1. Plans at least 1 fall and 1 spring project or event. The Project & Events Coordinator delegates some planning responsibility to the 1L Board Representative, and supports the 1L Board Representative in fulfilling their role.
  2. Proposes new projects and events for the Executive Board to consider implementing.
  3. Oversees member involvement in projects.
  4. Supports all other Executive Board Officers in their duties.

Outreach Coordinator

Eligibility: Any current student who is enrolled for the 2018-19 academic year is eligible to apply.

The Outreach Coordinator:

  1. Plans at least 1 fall and 1 spring networking event. The Outreach Coordinator delegates some planning responsibility to the 1L Board Representative, and supports the 1L Board Representative in fulfilling their role.
  2. Proposes new networking and outreach events for the Executive Board to consider implementing.
  3. Oversees member involvement in outreach projects.
  4. Supports all other Executive Board Officers in their duties.

1L Board Representative

Eligibility: Any current student who is enrolled as a 1L during the 2018-19 academic year may apply for this position. 

The 1L Board Rep:

  1. Serves as the primary contact between the first-year student body and the SABER Executive Board.
  2. Actively represents SABER to the first year student body through tabling, social media, communicating SABER events to the 1L class, recruiting support from the 1L class for SABER generally, and encouraging 1L students to participate in SABER events.
  3. Assists with coordinating at least one SABER event or activity during the year under the supervision of the Projects & Events Coordinator or another designated Executive Board Officer.
  4. Responsible for tasks assigned and approved as needed by other Executive Board Officers.
  5. Supports all other Executive Board Officers in their duties.
