- Professor Paula Abrams taught a course on international art law in Florence, Italy.
- Professor Doug Beloof lectured on victims’ rights issues at law schools in Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey, and spoke at a conference in Kobe, Japan, on comparative victims’ rights.
- Professor Kathy Hessler and Assistant Dean Pamela Frasch participated in an animal law program in Montréal, Canada.
- Professors Craig Johnston ’85, Ed Brunet, and Lin Harmon ’91 participated in an international conference on environmental law in Bangalore, India.
- Professor Steve Kanter visited our students at Peking University and also interacted with our Chinese alumni.
- Dean Klonoff lectured at law schools in South Korea and the Philippines and also visited with our alums in Seoul. In both Korea and the Philippines, he spoke with many students who are interested in our LLM program in environmental law.
- Associate Dean Lisa LeSage ’85 presented (in Spanish) a series of workshops in future legal education methodologies at law schools in Antofagasta and Coquimbo, Chile.
- Clinical Professor Erica Lyman worked with our International Environmental Law Project (IELP) students to support Pacific island countries during climate change negotiations in Cancun, Mexico, and Bangkok, Thailand; represented IELP in Geneva at two meetings on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species; and presented a paper at the International Wildlife Law Conference in Granada, Spain.
- Professor Susan Mandiberg taught a course on comparative criminal justice systems in Barcelona, Spain.
- Professor Chris Wold ’90 attended the climate change negotiations in Cancun and also traveled to Bergen, Norway, to negotiate rules for trade in marine species taken on the high seas.
- Eleven of our students were in India working on a variety of externships—in Supreme Court litigation, environmental litigation, human rights matters, and business transactions at law firms.
- Eight students took classes at Peking University through the program we offer each year with the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law. Two of these students stayed on to do six-week externships with a major Chinese law firm’s Beijing and Shanghai offices.
- Two Law School students were externs at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands.
- A Law School student externed with an environmental law firm in Sydney, Australia.
- One student externed in Amsterdam for Nike Europe.
- One student served as an extern at the U.N. Environment Program in Nairobi, Kenya.
