Letter From the President of the Recent Graduate Council

Holly Rudolph ’10

Dear Recent Graduates,

The RGC congratulates Jennifer Johnson on her appointment as dean of the law school. Although Dean Klonoff started at Lewis & Clark along with the Class of 2010 and will always feel a bit like a classmate to many of us, we are excited to welcome Dean Johnson to her new post. We wish her the best of luck and look forward to working with her!

This past year, the RGC presented a program by the exceptional Adina Flynn ’96, president of the Alumni Board, on financial planning and dealing with the realities of student loans. The RGC also provided opportunities for new and soon-to-be graduates to socialize and network. Among the new events we are planning are educational programs to help recent grads as they start a new job, take a new case, or write an article for publication. We will host social activities in Portland and outside the area—and, of course, the Rising Star Awards! Watch your email for the next call for nominations of notable recent graduates. Our most recent honorees, Jennifer Woodhouse ’08 and Rakeem Washington ’08, are inspiring to all of us, and we look forward to recognizing the brilliant work of other recent graduates.

We know many of you are doing amazing things. One recent graduate I would like to highlight and congratulate is Haley Farrar ’11. Haley was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and will be studying restorative justice in New Zealand. As you may know, the Fulbright Scholarship program is an exceedingly competitive program that has allowed some of history’s best and brightest to study internationally. Fulbright scholars have gone on to become heads of state, Nobel Prize recipients, Pulitzer Prize winners, renowned artists, and advocates of all stripes. Congratulations, Haley, and best of luck in your studies!

Lewis & Clark graduates continue to raise the bar in a variety of fields, and the RGC is proud to be part of recognizing their work. We will be profiling recent grads regularly in Advocate Magazine, so keep an eye out for upcoming articles about what your fellow alumni are up to. And as always, stay in touch!

Cheers,
