Greetings from the law school!

I am excited to start my second year as president of the law school’s Alumni Board of Directors.

I am excited to start my second year as president of the law school’s Alumni Board of Directors.

Our volunteer board works to increase alumni engagement and to serve as a liaison between the law school and our global alumni community. Including members who hail from a wide range of jobs, practice areas, class years, and locations, the board is truly representative of Lewis & Clark Law School’s growing stature and influence on the legal field.

One of the reasons the law school is on an upward trajectory is its continuing focus on practical skills. As a law student, I loved clerking at the Legal Clinic and the Environmental Practicum (now Earthrise), but there were a limited number of “real-world” classes available. These days, law students have an impressive range of options: the Small Business Legal Clinic, the Native American Law Students Association Moot Court, and the Animal Law Legal Practicum are just a few examples of what the law school offers.

I invite every alum to remain connected to the school and our alumni community! One of the great characteristics of Lewis & Clark is that our law alums support each other—both on a daily basis and throughout their careers. Whether it is by mentoring a current student, providing informational interviews, joining organizations like the board, or merely connecting with fellow alums on LinkedIn, I think you will find the benefits to be meaningful.

And one other invitation: Whether you’re based in town or just visiting, I hope you can drop by one of our monthly Happy Hours at rotating venues throughout the Portland metro area. Lewis & Clark provides appetizers; our alums furnish the socializing, reminiscing, and networking. For more information, please like us on Facebook (fb.me/LCLawAlumsPDX) or email lawalum@lclark.edu.

Warm regards,
