Upholding Victims’ Rights in Light of COVID-19

Throughout recent weeks NCVLI has been working across the country to protect victims’ rights in the face of COVID-19. On March 29 we submitted an Amicus Curiae Letter to the Supreme Court of Texas in response to its move to online hearings to ensure that victims’ rights to privacy and protection must be protected in any such hearings.

On April 3 NCVLI sent an Amicus Curiae Letter Brief to the District of Columbia Superior Court in response to its Order to Show Cause in In re Sentenced Misdemeanants seeking amendment to protect victims right to notice and to be heard. Each and every day of this pandemic NCVLI’s Team is working quickly to provide litigation strategy and inpu to uphold rights safely during COVID-19, and we will continue to provide resources while urgent responses are needed.
