Multnomah County Attorney’s Office, Portland, OR

My summer at the Multnomah County Attorney’s Office was very rewarding because I made meaningful contributions to legal work that helped the County provide its services to the public and because the wide variety of work that I was assigned greatly contributed to my professional growth.

The Multnomah County Attorney’s Office truly supports the public interest because it operates for the benefit of the public – the hundreds of thousands of people who live, work, and play in Multnomah County.  The office fills the important societal need of providing sound legal advice for County leaders and staff in the implementation and continuation of County programs and policies, many of which are designed to aid traditionally under-served populations, protect the environment, and plan how our community develops.

As a clerk, I researched and prepared memos on a wide variety of topics that were both advisory in nature and in preparation for litigation, all of which furthered the County’s public mission.  Being able to develop my professional skills while working in an area of law that is connected to my community was a great experience that was made even better by the quality of the attorneys in the office.  They were happy to answer my questions and always assigned interesting work.  I could not have asked for a better summer clerkship and PILP is a large part of why I was able to clerk for the Multnomah County Attorney’s Office.  The PILP stipend helped me personally by enhancing my professional growth and helped me give back to my community, for that I am grateful.
