Alice Emerson, JD

Director of Career Programming and Public Interest Law

Alice Emerson serves as the Director of Career Programming and Public Interest Law. She is committed to working with students, employers, alumni, and donors to maximize the creation of job and networking opportunities for Lewis & Clark Law students and graduates. Alice believes in developing and strengthening relationships with her students, alumni network, and employers to build trust and serve their individual needs. Alice advises students and plans programming on campus to broaden knowledge about options in the legal field, build relevant skills, and connect students with the legal market.

Prior to law school, Alice worked with children and families experiencing state involvement. Frustrations within that work led her to law school, and she then practiced child welfare law for over a decade before relocating to Oregon. Alice then spent more than 5 years practicing in Portland doing complex civil litigation. After approximately 19 years of legal practice, Alice joined Lewis and Clark and entered legal academia.

Outside of work, Alice can be found taking her dogs for romps in the forest, kayaking the Columbia, getting crafty with ceramics, or just enjoying a beautiful sunset.
