Writing Specialist Hillary Gell

Writing Specialist Hillary Gell graduated from Harvard Law School in 2010 and is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts. During law school, she focused her research on topics at the intersection of law and psychology, her undergraduate major area of study. These topics included medical decision making by minors, peer mediation and bullying, and the duty to warn as it relates to suicide on college campuses. She has taught Legal Research & Writing at many schools in Massachusetts and most recently at Lewis & Clark Law School. She also works as an LSAT course instructor and private LSAT tutor and advises law school applicants on the preparation of their personal statements, resumes, and other materials.

Writing Center Teaching Fellow Madyson Carpenter

Originally from Arizona, Madyson Carpenter is a 3L pursuing dual certificates in environmental and criminal law. Madyson graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2020 with a degree in Sculpture and Installation Art. While in law school, Madyson has had the opportunity to work as a clinic student in the Criminal Justice Reform Clinic, as an extern for the Hon. Stacie F. Beckerman at the U.S. District Court, and most recently, as a law clerk for the Federal Public Defender of Oregon. Outside of school, Madyson loves to mountain bike, volunteer with neighborhood community groups, and spend time in nature with her two rowdy pups.
